2012 Semester 1 Schedule and Events

Hi Eveyone,

This is just to let you all know our events for the first few weeks of uni, and our regular meeting times.

We have an info session on the 28th of February at 1pm on the second floor of union house, but our regular meetings start in week two. Our regular meeting times are as below:

Monday at 1pm
Tuesday at 1pm
Wednesday at 1pm

All of our meetings are held on the second floor of union house. For our first sessions we’ll be meeting in Joe Napolitano A, and we’ll try and meet there or next door for most meetings this semester.

We are also having a social gathering on Wednesday the 7th of March from 5pm, which will be held on the 2nd floor of Union House in Joe Napolitano B. It will involve free food and drink, and is a great opportunity to get to know the other Let’s Talk Members!

Come to any one of these events to sign up as a Let’s Talk member – only $5 for 2012!

Jazz Night

Hi everyone,

Just letting you know that The club ‘Let’s Talk’ is going to hold a Welcome Function for all students on campus, This Friday night!

During the function ‘Let’s talk’, make new friends from different backgrounds, and have a relaxing break from your assignments and mid-semester exams!!!

Also, food and drinks will be provided!

Date: Friday 2 September (this Friday night!)
Time: 6pm – 9pm
Place: The Ground Floor of Union House
Fee: $3 for Union members, $5 for others

Bring as many fiends as you can!

Meeting times and Joining the Club

Hi Everyone! You’re here because you want to find out more about let’s talk.

In semester 2, 2011 we’re going to be meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday at 1pm on the second floor of Union House, mostly in Joe Napolitano B.

How do I join?
The main thing is to do to join is just turn up to meetings! If you can’t make it one week, or you can’t do any of the sessions that are available, please send an email to letstalk.bysalp@gmail.com and tell us what times you’d be available.

Because we are a union afiliated club we also charge a small fee – $2 for union members, $5 for non-union members. This gives you club membership for the rest of the year and will allow us to provide free food for social gatherings every so often! We can also use the money to make Let’s Talk badges so it’ll be easier to find other let’s talk members!

Also, if you’re lost at any stage, look for the guy with the curly hair and the small let’s talk badge, or call Nick (That’s him) on 0451012407.

2011 Expressions of interest

Hi everyone,

Just letting you know that Let’s Talk Conversation Group is accepting all expressions of interest for 2011. Please email us with your name, email address, and whether you are an interrnational or local student.

We will then add you to the 2011 mailing list, and you will receive updates about all upcoming let’s talk events and social gatherings!

We hope to organise the sessions at our first social gathering in 2011, which is on the 3rd of March, from 4pm-6pm in Joe Nap A on the 2nd floor of union house, so if you can make it, it’d be really awesome.

Hi everyone,

Here is the new Let’s Talk logo, which was kindly designed for us by Ozlem.

Prepare to see it on all let’s talk related promotional material from here on. We even plan to make badges with it, so it’ll be easier to find other let’s talk members!

New Committee for 2010/2011

The club successfully held its AGM on the 10 August 2010, many thanks to everyone who came! Nhat and Huich are delighted to announce the new Executive Committee for 2010/2011:

Sessions for Week 3

By now most of you would have attended your first session, and we hope that you had a good time. Based on your session preferences, all of you have been sorted into mailing lists for each session, and your facilitators will be contacting you weekly with details about the next session.

If you haven’t been able to come to the first session, please don’t let that stop you from attending!

Annual General Meeting Tues 10 August 2010

Nhat and Huich have been running the ‘Let’s Talk’ Conversation Group for a couple of years now, and we think it is high time for a new team of people to take over. Thus we will be holding an Annual General Meeting to elect the executive committee, which will consist of 2 co-conveners, 1 Secretary and 1 Treasurer.

We BEG all of you to turn up otherwise not very good things will happen, and we also encourage all of you, international and local students, to consider running for a position.

Meeting Details:
Tuesday 10 August 2010, 1pm, Room 225, Level 2 Alice Hoy Building

Election Procedure
(1) Before the meeting, all candidates should prepare a short statement as to why they would like a position.

(2) Candidates can either nominate themselves or ask someone to nominate him/her

(3) Another person will need to second the nomination

(4) We vote!

There is also a general committee to assist the executive committee with their work. These positions are not for election – rather, the new executive committee will decide the number of people they need and seek volunteers. Further discussion of this will be had at the AGM
